Code of Ethics & Conduct

As Dolphin Swim School is affiliated with Swim England, we follow the ASA Code of Ethics and Conduct.

This code ensures that all individuals associated with the school will, at all times:

  • Respect the rights, dignity, and worth of every person—adult or child—treating everyone equally within the context of the sport.

  • Respect the spirit of the sport, adhering to the rules both in and out of the pool, and promoting friendship and respect for others.

  • Promote the positive aspects of swimming and never condone the use of inappropriate or abusive language, inappropriate relationships, bullying, harassment, discrimination, or physical violence.

  • Accept responsibility for their own behaviour, and encourage all ASA members and parents of junior members to do the same.

  • Ensure that all concerns of a child safeguarding nature are referred in accordance with child safeguarding procedures.

  • Conduct themselves in a manner that takes all reasonable measures to protect their own safety and the safety of others.

  • Promote the reputation of the sport and never behave—nor encourage or condone behaviour—that could bring the sport into disrepute.

  • Adhere to the school’s Child Safeguarding and Ethics Policies.

  • Adhere to the British Swimming Anti-Doping Rules.

  • Adhere to all relevant ASA Laws and Regulations.

  • Follow the Dolphin Swim School Code of Conduct.


Staff and instructors at Dolphin Swim School are expected to:

  • Fully adhere to their role and job description as outlined by the school, and never use their position to gain personal favour or advantage for any swimmer.

  • Develop appropriate working relationships with swimmers based on mutual trust and respect.

  • Always place the well-being, health, and safety of swimmers above all other considerations, including performance development.

  • Ensure that all teaching, coaching, and competition programmes are appropriate to the swimmer's age, ability, and experience.

  • Identify and meet the needs of individual swimmers, as well as the needs of the team or squad.

  • Be fair and equitable in decisions regarding level placement and promotions.

  • Maintain and pursue continued professional development in all areas related to teaching and coaching children.

  • Treat all personal information about swimmers as confidential, unless withholding that information would place a child at risk of harm.

  • Never encourage or condone swimmers, volunteers, officials, or parents to break the rules of the club or sport—and report any violations appropriately.
